North Keppel Island

the second largest of the Keppel Islands

North Keppel Island

North Keppel Island is run by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and is home to the North Keppel Island Environmental Education Centre.

Expansive reef flats surround the island, mainly on the western side. The eastern side is comprised of sheer basalt rock cliffs with very little coral cover.

The area between North Keppel Island and Pumpkin Island is quite shallow with strong currents. Yachts are advised to be cautious traversing this passage as they can easily come aground.
